Glenn Colton, accomplished NY lawyer and Rick Wolf, Hall of Fame Fantasy Executive, have been friends since 1984 when they were dorm mates in college. As poker buddies and huge sports fans, they bonded despite having very different approaches…one there for education to eventually pass the bar and the other…well…couldn't pass a bar.
After college, they stayed in touch while Colton was working for the Government putting bad guys behind bars. Wolf was playing Fantasy Games for a living with SportsLine (became CBS Sports) and Rotoworld. Colton was always jealous of Wolf. Wolf was always jealous of Colton.
In 2002, 18 years after they had met, the real journey began. Wolf was frustrated by not being able to win the premier expert's league LABR for four years. Colton convinced him that what he needed was a lawyer and a set of rules. Before their first draft in 2002, Wolf and Colton reviewed strategies in the industry and saw flaws in all of them. They invented the SMART system. Although SMART was not perfect, they executed it bringing them back-to-back LABR victories and the football version created in 2003, brought them four FSTA football victories in the last six years.
Now that Fantasy Sports and Expert Leagues are so competitive, it is time to reinvent, innovate and extend. Now with very different approaches to fantasy sports, the two have collaborated to show how to refine their original strategies and execute to win.
